Dignified accommodation for female teachers!
The problem: Inhumane living conditions
During the week, the teachers work in very basic brick huts –rooms measuring 2.5 x 3.5 meters, furnished with only a bed and a shelf.Withthe hiring of two new teachers, the situation has now become critical:two teachers have to share one bedroom–a situation that is undignified and impossible to maintain in the long term.
The situation is particularly serious for those teachers who cannot go home at the weekend. Not all teachers have another apartment nearby. For some teachers, the hut is their only accommodation—they live in these primitive conditions throughout the school year. They do not return home for the weekend; for them, this is their home during working hours. This is not a temporary inconvenience, but a year of impossible conditions repeated daily.
The overall situation regarding teacher accommodation is precarious:
-
Communal kitchen: An outdoor reed hut, primitive fireplace with three stones
-
Sanitary facilities: Outdoor toilets in terrible condition
-
Water supply: A tap with salt water, as the well has hit a salt water bubble.
-
Quality of life: Slum-like conditions
These conditions are not only inconvenient—they are harmful to health and demotivating. They jeopardize the stability of a school project on which 280 children depend.
The solution: two new teachers' cabins
We are buildingtwo additional cabins in order to:
✓Creating privacy–Each teacher is given their own dignified space to rest and recharge
✓Ensuring stability–Better living conditions keep dedicated teachers in a difficult region
✓Guarantee continuity–Permanent, stable teachers = reliable teaching for 280 students
✓Respect human dignity–Minimum standards for teachers who give their all for their students every day
Each hut costs: €2,500
Total budget for both huts: €5,000
That sounds like very little—because it really is an unprecedentedly efficient solution. The material costs are low locally, and the construction is robust and practical. We pay less than the price of a cheap kitchen in Europe to create two rooms that are fit for human habitation.
